Windows 10 has been available for a few days now, as a simple update offered through Windows Update. Unsurprisingly, there are millions of us who have taken the plunge, but you may be hesitant to get started. After all, the system marks a new break in the history of the firm …
Yes it is, but it also has a lot of good things and actually you had better start this update on your machine. If you are in doubt, then this article should help you see it a bit more clearly as it lists the six reasons that will make you want to switch to Windows 10.
And if you see others, don't hesitate to leave a little comment after the article.
1. It's free… for a limited time
Microsoft does not see Windows 10 as an operating system, but rather as a service. This is precisely what prompted the publisher to offer the update to anyone with a machine running Windows 7 SP1 or Windows 8.1.
Be careful though because this offer is limited in time. If you want to take advantage of it, you will have to install the update before July 29, 2016. If you do not do so, then you will have to take out your credit card to be able to take advantage of its services on your machine.
2. It is both responsive and very light
Windows 10 is much less greedy than the previous versions and it will be able to run on the most modest configurations.
On the processor side, it will simply need a chip clocked at 1 GHz. The amount of RAM will depend on the version of the system, however. You will need 1 GB of RAM on the 32-bit version or 2 GB on the 64-bit version. The same goes for the storage space which will oscillate between 16 GB and 20 GB.
Casually, that's pretty reasonable, isn't it? Certainly, and this is not surprising because the system was designed to run on all terminals on the market, including our smartphones.
3. Its interface will adapt to your use
Windows 10 is designed to run on many different devices and it will be possible to enjoy it on PCs, consoles, smartphones and hybrid machines.
Microsoft has therefore provided it with a flexible interface capable of adapting to our uses. If you are using the system on a computer then you will find yourself facing a traditional desktop. And on a tablet? There, the interface will give pride of place to Modern UI. The best part about it is that this flexibility will also extend to applications.
Yes, and Continuum will not be limited to our bikes. No, the tool will also be present on Windows 10 Mobile and it will suffice to connect our phone to a screen or a television to deploy a real full-fledged desktop, like a thin client.
4. Cortana will replace your intern
Cortana is built into Windows 10 and it even replaces traditional search. If the assistance will be able to find documents, create reminders and launch applications, they will also be able to display contextualized information to you by relying on their notebooks.
Thanks to them, she will be able to display the weather forecast, bring up your next appointments and many other odds and ends of the same type. With it, for sure, you will no longer need to take an intern.
5. It is the keystone of your installation
As indicated above, Windows 10 will not be limited to our computers and it will eventually be deployed on all devices present in the manufacturer's catalog. This also applies to our cell phones and home consoles.
Behind, Microsoft has put the package on the "cloud" and all our data will be automatically synchronized on the servers of the firm, to the great misfortune of Marine Le Pen . However, the system goes much further than that and it will also allow us to stream our games from the Xbox One to our Surface 3.
Ultimately, it therefore risks becoming the keystone of our installation and our digital entertainment.
6. Microsoft Edge, quite simply
Internet Explorer has been very often criticized by the specialized press, by developers and by my baker.
Microsoft hung on to its home browser for quite a while, but it took advantage of the arrival of Windows 10 to introduce a radically different new tool: Edge.
Apart from its icon, it does not look at all like its predecessor and it is even today one of the fastest and most responsive browsers on the market. Better, it also embeds a lot of well thought out functions and it will even allow us to annotate web pages and create notes immediately.
The only thing missing are extensions but they shouldn't be long.

In the meantime, be aware that more than 14 million terminals have been updated to Windows 10 during the first day after its launch.
