CD Projekt Red hasn't had what you might call a happy end to 2020, and it looks like the New Year isn't shaping up to be a good year either. The studio is in fact the subject of a second class action suit . In question, the many problems accumulated around the inevitable Cyberpunk 2077 .
On paper, Cyberpunk 2077 had everything to be a real success.
A rich and complex universe, many possibilities in terms of gameplay, a well-constructed scenario full of twists and turns, a completely game-changing verticality, it was clearly promised a bright future and so many of us were waiting for it firmly. .
CD Projekt Red faces second class action lawsuit
The disappointment was therefore even greater. If the title remains objectively very good on PC, PlayStation 5 and Xbox Series X | S, it turned out to be simply unplayable on the older generation, which of course earned the studio plenty of reviews – as well as quite a few refunds.
To make matters worse, a first shareholder took the decision to take the matter to court and to open a class action lawsuit at the end of last year. Cornered, CD Projekt Red then promised to defend himself with energy.
The threat does not appear to have borne fruit, however, as we learn today that a second class action lawsuit has been filed in California Court.
Investors behind the action
Worse yet, just like the first, the procedure was initiated by investors in the company, investors who once again evoke a “deception” on the part of the studio as to the final quality of the title, especially on PlayStation 4 and Xbox One.
Visibly angry at having been cheated in this way, the investors behind the action are therefore once again demanding damages for the damage they believe they have suffered. As for the first resort, no amount is specified.
On the side of CD Projekt Red, the strategy remains the same and the studio therefore announces its intention to defend itself against accusations that it considers unfounded. And if there is no doubt that he will be able to present arguments, this second recourse risks plummeting the atmosphere a little more within the company, a company which will also have to deal with an investigation by Polish authorities on what may have been one of the biggest video game fiascos of the past decade.
