Facebook Messenger has integrated a powerful anti-spam for some versions and the solution is therefore perfectly capable of deleting all unwanted messages before they fall in your inbox. The problem, of course, is that it's not foolproof. Fortunately, there is a hidden folder that contains all these messages.
I don't think I will teach you anything by telling you that anti-spam can sometimes be a bit heavy. The filter built into Facebook's messaging solution is no exception, of course.
No, and this is precisely what prompted the developers of the application to set up this famous file.
Facebook Messenger's antispam has a heavy hand
It effectively allows users to find all the messages recorded by the Facebook Messenger antispam.
The thing is, it's not really accessible and you have to get your hands dirty to find it and display its content.
If you want to access this famous folder, it's not complicated because you just have to follow these steps:
- Launch the app on your phone.
- Tap on the icon to access the settings.
- Tap on the “contact” button.
- Tap on the “message invitations” button.
- The invitations appear on the screen.
- Scroll down to the bottom of the list.
- Tap on the “view filtered requests” button.
- New messages appear at the bottom.
These messages are grayed out and they correspond to all conversations put aside by Facebook Messenger. I expected to find a ton of commercials in there but it doesn't and in reality this famous list is about 90% completely genuine posts, and from some of you.
I also admit that it leaves me very perplexed. Basically, the role of an antispam is actually to fight against … spam, and not against messages sent by real people made of flesh and blood.
So, if you have a minute or two to spare, it's probably best to dig into this file. And who knows, the messages listed in it might surprise you …
