The Honor 7 arrived in Europe at the end of August and it had no trouble making an impression. Metal, neat finishes, a high-end technical sheet, there is no shortage of assets to seduce and it also pays for the luxury of being offered under the (fateful) bar of 350 euros. Yes and imagine that he has been with me for a few weeks now.
The time has therefore come to take stock of the operation. I was not very reactive on this occasion and I humbly apologize. The return to school has been very busy.
The good thing about it is that you won't have to wait very long to discover my test. The video was shot over the weekend and will be uploaded to my YouTube channel this week.
And we immediately attack with the technical characteristics of the beast to get us back into the mix.
The Honor 7 has a 5.2-inch IPS LCD screen capable of displaying a Full HD 1080p type definition, and therefore of 1920 x 1080. It is powered by a HiSilicon Kirin 935 processor coupled with 3 GB of RAM. .
The storage space starts at 16 GB. It is not much but it will be possible to extend it by means of a micro SD card.
On the photo side, Honor has opted for a 20 million pixel sensor with phase detection autofocus. It is crowned with a wide-angle capable of opening at f / 2.0. The front camera for its part reaches a definition of 8 million pixels.
The connectivity is quite complete. The terminal is entitled to WiFi 802.11 ac, Bluetooth 4.1 LE and 4G. Unfortunately, it doesn't have an NFC chip and that's a shame. Good point, however, it incorporates an infra-red transmitter placed next to the headphone jack.
Behind, the phone is also entitled to a 3100 mAh battery, for an announced autonomy of 350 hours on standby or 500 minutes in communication.
The manufacturer has set up a fast charging system and the Honor 7 can even be used as a backup battery and thus power your friends' terminals.
But the best asset of the Honor 7, ultimately, is its price because it is offered at 349.99 euros . It is also available in two colors: silver or dark gray.
Design & Ergonomics
The first thing that strikes you, with the Honor 7, are its finishes. The terminal is light years from its predecessor and is thus equipped with a magnificent metal shell with extremely neat finishes.
As a direct consequence, we immediately have the impression of having a premium product in hand and it is obviously very pleasant.
At the front, there is a simple plastic front. The borders surrounding the screen are quite thick but this is not really surprising since the antennas are placed below. No sensitive buttons, however.
The usual three physical buttons (volume, power on) are grouped together on the left side of the device. The hatch is placed on the other side and may accept a choice of two SIM cards or SIM Nano Nano card and a micro SD card.
Honor also placed another button below. It serves as a shortcut and it will be possible to associate a maximum of three actions with it. Thanks to this system, we will be able to launch our favorite applications in an instant.
The headphone jack and the infrared emitter are placed on the upper edge, the exact opposite of the connector. It is also surrounded by the speakers of the device.
The photo module protrudes a few millimeters from the camera's cabin and is covered with a sapphire crystal plate.
It comes with a dual LED flash and a fingerprint reader. Fun fact, it will not only identify you and it will also be possible to use it to access the notification center or multitasking.
The Honor 7 clearly made a strong impression on me. It marks a real breakthrough in the history of the range and it does not have to be ashamed of terminals twice as expensive.
In short, it's a very good surprise for the moment. Now the question is, what is the terminal worth on a daily basis, in everyday life.
And to find out, it's not complicated, you just have to wait for my test.
