Apple presented iOS 14 to the world last night and you can't wait to get your hands on the novelties brought by this brand new version. Good news, it's perfectly possible and it's not at all complicated. Just follow the guide.
iOS 14 is not just another iteration. This new version was an opportunity for Apple to rethink its platform from scratch.
Between the arrival of widgets, the implementation of the App Gallery and all the context functions such as App Clips, there is plenty to do.
But if you've been following the Keynote carefully, or reading our recap , then you know the public beta won't be available until summer. At the moment, only developers can test the platform.
At least in theory. In practice, it will suffice to download the right profile to be able to use it, all without a developer account.
Step 1: the preparations
Be careful, however, not to start too quickly. Before installing iOS 14 on your iPhone, you must realize that a beta version is – in essence – not stable. Bugs can indeed occur and it is even possible that some applications no longer work.
But that's not all. While iOS 14 supports quite a few different iPhone models, it is also not compatible with all the phones Apple has released since the lineup was created.
Here you will find the list of all iPhone compatible with the platform. Make sure yours is one of them.
Also, before you even download the profile, it will be best to first back up your entire data . Either through iCloud or through iTunes.
To sum up, then, here's what you need to do before you start:
- Make sure your iPhone is compatible.
- Back up your files.
Step 2: Download and install the iOS 14 profile
Apple has greatly simplified its procedures over the years. From now on, it is therefore no longer even necessary to have a Mac to install the beta versions of the platform. In reality, all you have to do is download the right profile directly from the terminal.
Chance generally doing things well, there is precisely a site entirely dedicated to the thing: betaprofiles.com . Very complete, this site centralizes all the profiles of the Apple brand device platforms in one place.
As far as we are concerned, it is of course the profile of iOS 14 that interests us at present. But be careful, because you won't have to download it just any way either.
In reality, everything will happen directly from the iPhone. You will therefore have to go to the site from the Safari of your phone and then click on the “download” button located in the insert dedicated to iOS 14. The iPhone will ask you if you are sure of yourself and you will of course have to accept.
Once the profile has been downloaded, we will have to install it. Again, the procedure is not very complicated. It will suffice to go to the settings of the device. A new menu called “Install Profile” will appear as if by magic under your avatar. You will then have to tap on it and accept the conditions set by the firm.
The profile will then install itself.
To sum up, here is what you need to do to download and install the iOS 14 profile on your iPhone:
- Unlock your iPhone.
- Open Safari.
- Go to betaprofiles.com.
- Look out for the insert dedicated to iOS 14.
- Click on the “download” button.
- Confirm the profile download.
- Wait for the operation to complete.
- Open iPhone settings.
- Click on the “Install Profile” menu.
- Start the installation of the downloaded profile.
- Confirm your choice.
- Wait for the installation to complete.
Step 3: install iOS 14
The hard part is done and now all you have to do is install iOS 14 on your brave iPhone.
And again, life is well done because you won't have any complicated manipulations to go through. It will suffice to go to the settings of the iPhone and in the section devoted to updates for your phone to offer you to download and install iOS 14. All this thanks to the profile that we have just installed.
Be careful, however, because the download can take time. Likewise for the installation. In addition, it will be better to plug your iPhone into a power source to avoid a power cut during the process.
To sum up, here's how to install iOS 14 on your iPhone:
- Unlock your iPhone.
- Go to settings.
- Open the updates menu.
- Start the installation of iOS 14.
