Bloctel opened its doors on June 1 and this service has generated a lot of ink since its launch. This is not surprising because it gives the French the opportunity to oppose telephone canvassing. How? 'Or' What ? By following the procedure provided by the government. It is not very complicated but this tutorial will walk you through everything you need to do, step by step.
Bloctel does not fall from the sky, of course. The government has been working on the device for many months and it has even been incorporated into the Consumer Law.
As its name suggests, this service was set up to allow the French to oppose canvassing by telephone.
Bloctel: principles and operation
After following the procedure mentioned above, their phone number will automatically be added to a sort of red list. Telephone sales prospecting companies will then no longer have the right to call him.
If they still try to contact you, then you can file a complaint on the site set up by the government. The DGCCRF can then open an investigation and sanction the offender, with a fine of up to € 15,000 for a natural person or € 75,000 for a legal person.
Note however that the device only concerns canvassing companies. Your bank and your operator will always have the right to contact you, as will non-profit associations.
How to register for Bloctel?
If you want to add your phone number to this famous red list, it's not very complicated because you just have to start by going to this address .
Bloctel will then ask you if you are a consumer or a business. All you have to do is click on the button linked to your status.
There, the site will explain how the device works and which companies are affected. Navigation is provided by the four red buttons located above this summary.
Simply click on the button dedicated to registration.
The site will direct you to a new page indicating the progress of the operation. Basically and to summarize, you will have to fill out a form. Bloctel will then send you a confirmation email within 48 hours asking you to confirm your registration.
You will need to click on the link in the message to do so.
The site will then send you a second email with all the information associated with your account. It will include your registration number, a number that will also be used to identify you.
To start the procedure, you will have to click on the blue button located at the bottom of the page: “start your registration”.
Bloctel will then display the form mentioned a little above. It has many fields and you will need to complete them all. At the end, you will find a field in which you will have to enter the telephone number to be entered in the list. It is possible to register more than one by clicking on the corresponding button, with a maximum of eight numbers.
When you're done, be sure to check the box that says you agree to the terms of service (it's best to read them to make sure you really agree with them) and the box that says you don't. are not a robot. Then validate the form by clicking on the corresponding button.
And then ?
As indicated above, Bloctel will send you an email within 48 hours to confirm your registration. You must do so to validate it. Otherwise, your phone numbers will not be added to the list and you will just have to start all over again.
In itself, this initiative is quite nice but the site is still a bit too busy and it's a shame for people who are not very comfortable with new technologies.
The government could have made a small effort in terms of UX for once. Finally, that does not detract from the interest of the service.
