In the US, DSiWare titles would start to disappear from the 3DS eShop

I have two bad news and two good news for you. On the 3DS eShop , some DSiWare titles are no longer available for purchase. So much for the first bad news. The first “good” is that for the time being, only the United States appear to be affected. And if it is therefore still possible to catch up in Europe, the bill may be steep in case of gluttony.

When the dematerialized began to settle in the lives of players, we could, naively, believe that this mode of distribution would keep titles in the circuit longer, physical brands can not effectively guarantee ad vitam æternam the marketing of several generations of video games.

In the US, DSiWare titles would start to disappear from the 3DS eShop

Experience has shown us that it only takes one license expiration or the end of a service for titles to be lost forever for those who did not get them on time. When the Nintendo 3DS was released, it succeeded the DSi, a variation of the DS offering the ability to download games.

Shantae Risky's Revence DSiWare version would no longer be accessible on the 3DS US eShop

And if we could have said that all these DSi titles would disappear as soon as the 3DS landed, this was not the case. DSiWare games continue to be available on the 3DS eShop, but to believe a warning signal observed on Twitter, the American owners of 3DS have started to lose several DSiWare titles on their eShop.

The @comeoutpunching account reports that “all DSiWare games released before mid-May 2011 have been deactivated on the eShop, including the classic Shantae Risky's Revenge! Fortunately, I took it on my DSi before this store closed. Get the ones that are still on sale while you can! ”

The user then gives some recommendations of titles as well as a non-exhaustive list of games that it is no longer possible to buy from his side:

  • Asphalt 4
  • X-Scape
  • Aura Climber
  • Zenonia
  • Spotto!
  • Mighty Flip Champs
  • Escapee GO!
  • Dr. Mario Express
  • Mr. Driller
  • Soul of Darkness
  • Legends of Exidia
  • Spin Six
  • The Oregon Trail
  • Glow Artisan

Note that several of these games no longer appear at all on the European 3DS eShop, such as Asphalt 4 , which is probably due in this specific case to a prior withdrawal. Others are still available like X-Scape (only findable under the name 3D Space Tank in Europe) and Zenonia .

Is this a gradual disconnection that Nintendo would like to operate discreetly or is it a simple bug? When in doubt, do not refrain from falling for one or two soft drinks.
