Samsung had promised big announcements on this beautiful day of April 28 and the firm did not lie. It has indeed just lifted the veil on a new range of laptops: the Galaxy Book . A range of four very different models.
More than ever, we need to stay connected. And it doesn't just happen with smartphones. Based on this observation, Samsung has just presented four ultrabooks designed for all audiences.
The Samsung Galaxy Book Pro, for the most demanding users
They have just been positioned on the top of the basket and are therefore intended for the most demanding users.
The Galaxy Book Pro does not compromise, either in terms of design or power.
The look is neat. Samsung has opted for a beautiful white dress, with a frame that is both thin and light. The 13.3-inch model does not weigh more than a kilo and it can accompany you on all your travels. And if this diagonal is not enough for you, then you can opt for the 15.6 inch version.
In both cases, you will find an AMOLED screen capable of displaying full HD definition and covering 120% of the DCI-P3 color space, with a brightness of up to 500 nits and a response time of around 0. , 2 ms. It will also be possible to juggle several color profiles and switch, for example, to an sRGB or Adobe RGB profile.
The processor will depend on the configuration chosen. Samsung gives you the choice. In all cases, the firm has of course opted for 11th generation Intel processors. More precisely for Intel i3, Intel i5 and Intel i7. They can be combined with 8, 16 or 32 GB of RAM and the storage will go up to 1 TB in NVMe SSD. The I5 and i7 models also have the particularity of being delivered with Intel Iris Xe graphics cards, but it will be possible to take a GeForce MX450 in addition.
Samsung has been generous in terms of connectivity, with a wide variety of ports. Better yet, in addition to the endless USB-C, USB-A and HDMI connectors, we will also be entitled to a Thunderbolt 4 port.
Among the other options offered, there is also the question of connectivity and you can thus opt for models equipped with 4G modems. WiFi 6th also answers the call and we can also count on Dolby Atmos speakers, a 720p front camera or even 63 or 68 wH batteries depending on the model chosen.
The Samsung Galaxy Book Pro360, for the more agile
Samsung has also thought about users looking for a machine capable of fulfilling several roles.
The Galaxy Book Pro360 is indeed positioned in the convertible segment, with a reinforced hinge that will allow its screen to rotate 360 °. The machine can therefore be used as an ultrabook or as a tablet.
Just like the Galaxy Book Pro, it comes in two diagonals and it offers generally the same as its comrade. The screen is of course tactile and it supports styluses. Connectivity also goes further with support for 5G. We keep of course the WiFi 6E, the Thunderbolt 4 connector and the 11th generation Intel chips.
Here again, you will also have the choice between an Intel Core i3, an Intel Core i5 or an Intel Core i7. On the other hand, no option for the MX450, we will have to stay on an Intel Iris Xe.
Interestingly, the Galaxy Book Pro360 comes in multiple colors and is MIL-STD-810G certified. It will therefore be able to withstand the most difficult conditions.
The Galaxy Book, the basic model
If you don't need a big spec sheet or a convertible, then you have the Galaxy Book.
More basic, it only comes in one size, with a 15.6-inch LCD screen. The definition does not change, nor the processors. Finally, this is not entirely correct. In addition to the i3, i5 and i7, you can also opt for a version equipped with a Pentium Gold or even a Celeron.
RAM starts at 4 GB, with options to switch. 8 or 16 GB. The SSD reaches 512 GB, but you can request a second as an option. Ditto for the GeForce MX450, also offered in addition.
The Samsung Galaxy Book Odyssey, power above all
And we end with the Galaxy Book Odyssey. Here, and unsurprisingly, Samsung has focused on performance.
Imposing, the computer is therefore only offered in a 15.6-inch version and weighs around 1.85 kg. In return, we are entitled to a nice 83 Wh battery compatible with 135W fast charging. Perfs are not left out either.
On the processor side, you will have to choose between an Intel Core i5 or an Intel Core i7, this time with 8, 16 or 32 GB of RAM and, above all, a GeForce RTX 3050 Ti Max-Q or Max-Q. The storage can go up to a maximum of 1TB in NVMe SSD, which will leave you a lot of margin. No big surprise in terms of connectivity, except that the Galaxy Book Odyssey skips 4G and WiFi 6th, to offer WiFi 6.
For the moment, Samsung France has not communicated a release date or price.
