Sony Xperia Z3: focus on the speaker

Sony is present in many sectors. The firm produces televisions and game consoles, of course, but it also happens to market Hi-Fi systems and it even has a certain know-how in the matter. Unsurprisingly, it has obviously made sure to integrate as many technologies as possible on its high-end terminals and the Xperia Z3 is obviously no exception to the rule. Now, the time has come to take a serious look at his loudspeaker. In video, of course.

I rarely address the issue of audio in my tests. Why ? I haven't the faintest idea, but I know at least one thing: several of you have asked me what the Xperia Z3 is worth in this area, and so I could not ignore it.

Sony Xperia Z3 Focus On The Speaker

So of course, transcribing the quality of a telephone call in a video is not easy. I therefore preferred to concentrate my efforts on the loudspeaker of the terminal, especially since its predecessors were a little behind the competition on this side.

More generous, clearer and cleaner sound

If we are to believe the technical sheet of the Z3 , then the latter is able to produce high resolution sound and it comes with some technologies specific to the manufacturer, technologies that were already found on previous models. Either VPT , ClearAudio + and xLoud . No word on the raw power of the speaker, however. Pity.

Fortunately, technique is not everything. Sensations are important, too.

What to say, then? The speaker of the Xperia Z3 is doing better than that of its predecessors, it is undeniable. The sound delivered is clearer, more powerful and it stays clean in all circumstances, even when the volume is cranked up. Little saturation, no crackling, we are finally light years away from what the Z1 offered. The difference between the Z2 and the Z3 is a little more tenuous, but it does exist.

On the sidelines, Sony also took the opportunity to make some changes to its menus. The firm has removed the second tab of the equalizer. In return, it will be necessary to take one more step to access the latter. This is not necessarily the most judicious, but it is not dramatic since it could very well backtrack in a future update of the platform if it wishes.

Anyway, here too, my first impressions are rather positive. If you want to see the most, the best is still to play the video that follows. Otherwise, well know that you will find here a complete comparison between the Z3, the Z2 and the Z1. And another video over there , which focuses more on capturing photos and videos.
