GPD is back with a new UFO tending to both PC and console: the GPD Win 3 . This time, the manufacturer has literally surpassed itself by giving us a machine with extreme flexibility.
GPS has always been a somewhat separate manufacturer. Unlike many competitors, he has never sought consensus and he has always been keen to think outside the box by offering us versatile, flexible and, somewhere, unique devices.
The Win 3 GPS is obviously no exception to the rule and a simple glance is enough to be sure.
GPD Win 3, between console and PC, with a touch of Switch
At first glance, the Win 3 seems to be closer to a Switch. The screen, massive, reaches 5.5 inches and it is framed by two handles in which the controllers have been screwed. On the left, we will find an analog stick, a directional cross, two buttons and a status LED, on the right we will have an analog stick, four buttons and a fingerprint reader, as well as an Xbox button.
But that's not all. GPD also added two triggers on each shoulder and two customizable buttons on the back to give us easier access to certain controls.
There is more, however. Like the Switch, the GPD Win 3 will be accompanied by a dock to connect to a screen or a television. Once the accessory is in place, we will just have to put the device on it to be able to play on the big screen.
However, the Win 3 does not stop there. Contrary to what one might think, the device is not a simple portable console. It is actually a complete PC. The screen is thus sliding and we will only have to pull it up to see a full physical keyboard appear, a keyboard including all the usual keys.
A solid setup
Better yet, the device comes with Windows 10 and it will be quite possible to install applications on it. Moreover, when you put it on its dock, you can also connect all your peripherals. Printers, mouse, keyboard, monitors, USB keys, external SSD. Exactly like a real PC, in short.
Without being crazy, the configuration remains correct given the proposed format. The GPS Win 3 therefore has a 5.5-inch HD screen and an 11th generation Intel Core i5 or i7 coupled with 16 GB of RAM and 1 TB of storage in SSD format. It also has an Intel Iris Xe GPU and WiFi 6 as well as Bluetooth 5.0. As a bonus, we will find a micro SD reader that will allow us to easily expand its storage capacity.
The on-board battery is compatible with 65W fast charging and its autonomy will depend mainly on use. The manufacturer announces between 2 and 3 hours in games, and 6 to 8 hours in moderate use, even 11 hours with light use.
GPD will launch a campaign on Indiegogo to fund the project. The price remains high. It will cost $ 829 for the i5 version and $ 969 for the i7 version.
