Apple launched the iPhone SE (2020) last year, several years after the previous model was released. An iPhone SE (2020) which was very successful and that we really appreciated in the editorial staff as evidenced by our test .
Since then, the iPhone 12 have of course been there, but Apple would not have completely let go. In fact, it is quite the opposite.
Apple Lab, a very prolific leaker on Twitter, indeed announces the launch of an iPhone SE Plus for this year.
An iPhone SE Plus to complete the range?
It does not only announce its launch, since it also lists its main features.
As always with this type of rumor, caution is of course in order, but the leaker expects the iPhone SE Plus to have a 6.1-inch IPS screen, and therefore a screen. equivalent to that present on board the iPhone 12 and iPhone 12 Pro.
On the SoC side, Apple should choose, at best, an A14, but the brand could also fall back on an A13 in order to clearly distinguish between its ranges. The photographic component should also be less ambitious and the iPhone SE Plus would be content with a single 12 million pixel sensor on the back, with a 7 million pixel selfie camera for self-portraits and FaceTime.
A Touch ID reader on the edge of the phone?
Touch ID should also answer the call, but Apple could choose to move the fingerprint reader on the edge of the phone as was the case with the last iPad Air.
The price would be quite attractive for its part and we should therefore expect that the device is offered at $ 499 on the American market and at € 589 in Europe.
If these characteristics seem to make sense – as far as we are concerned, to choose, we would bet more on the A13 than on the A14 – we can still wonder about the design of the phone. If Apple moves the Touch ID reader to the edge of the phone, then the brand will be able to free up a lot of space on the front of the phone. And if the iPhone SE Plus had to skip Face ID, then it wouldn't need a notch. In other words, it's possible that this phone, assuming it exists, is also an opportunity for Apple to introduce a whole new design.
