Samsung was among the first to launch a folding smartphone, but the brand did not stick to its very first Fold. Firmly determined to mark the test, it has indeed launched in quick succession a Galaxy Z Flip and a Galaxy Z Fold 2. Two devices that have met with great success.
Now, on the strength of this great success, the Korean brand should reward us this year with a Galaxy Z Fold 3. A Galaxy Z Fold 3 which could have a little something more …
And this little thing is a brand new Exynos chip developed jointly by Samsung and AMD.
Samsung x AMD, soon a common Exynos
Earlier in the year, we did indeed witness an unexpected merger between Samsung and AMD. A merger which resulted in a close partnership between the two brands. They have indeed announced their intention to launch a common high-end SoC, a unique Exynos and much more powerful than the chips currently in the manufacturer's catalog.
The first projections indicate a possible launch in 2022 and therefore next year. Ice universe, on the other hand, seems a little more optimistic.
In a tweet published on January 24, the leaker indeed indicates that this famous Exynos jointly developed by Samsung and AMD should be a little ahead of the planned program. He therefore expects it to be marketed in the third quarter of 2021.
And that's very interesting, because the third quarter of the year is generally devoted to the new Galaxy Note and… the Galaxy Z Fold.
Two high-end SoCs for the Galaxy Z Fold 3 and Galaxy Z Flip 2?
The Galaxy Note range having, according to some sources, a bit of lead in the wing, we can therefore imagine that Samsung will prefer to focus on the Galaxy Z Fold 3.
This also means that the latter could be the very first smartphone of the brand to embed this famous Exynos Samsung / AMD.
But there is more. Ice universe also mentions in its tweet the launch of two new high-end Exynos: an Exynos 2xxx and an Exynos 1xxx. The manufacturer could therefore prepare a surprise for us and unveil, at your choice, two Galaxy Z Fold 3, or a Galaxy Z Fold 3 and a Galaxy Z Flip 2.
Unfortunately, we will have to wait a little longer to be fixed. The first leaks targeting these two devices should not fall, at best, until the end of the first quarter. And until then, a lot can still happen.
