Microsoft quietly began to deploy the April 2018 Update to all machines running Windows 10 at the start of the week, but the company has once again opted for a gradual deployment in order not to overload its infrastructure. However, it is possible to rush things a bit.
This new version has therefore been available since the start of the week and it brings a number of crucial new features.
Among these, it is impossible not to mention the Timeline, a function relatively close to what Time Machine offers on macOS.
Windows 10 April 2018 Update is available since the beginning of the week
Thanks to it, the user will indeed be able to go back in time and thus navigate within the applications and activities used or launched during the last thirty days. Dictate is also more present and a simple keyboard shortcut (Windows + H) will suffice to launch the application and take advantage of its many benefits.
And that's without counting on all the improvements made to Cortana, Edge and all the other applications signed with the seal of the American firm.
By default, the April 2018 Update will automatically be offered to you by Windows 10 when it is available on your machine, through a notification appearing in the lower right corner of the screen.
However, and as mentioned a little above, it is also possible to force the fate a little and to benefit from the update without having to wait for this famous message.
How to force the installation of the update?
The easiest method is to go to Windows Update and check for a new update. If you are lucky, and there is no guarantee that you are, then Windows 10 will offer to download and install it right away. Game over.
On the other hand, if this is not the case and if you cannot / do not want to wait for the deployment of the update on your machine, then all you have to do is roll up your sleeves and go through the wizard update offered by Microsoft.
Available at this address , this wizard is relatively simple and you just have to click on the “update” button and save the file on your hard drive to retrieve the wizard. Then, all you have to do is launch the program (or run it directly from the browser) to start the update process and at the same time repatriate the patch to your machine.
Be careful though, because the update procedure takes a long time and it will immobilize your machine for a while.
